The preparation of limbs and a patients body for surgery is a big process. The skin must be cleaned and prepared in order for now contaminants to enter the sterile field and risk infection. This is the new stand alone leg prep fromAcralMed is designed to help with this step. Legs tend to be quite heavy especially when a patient is under general anesthetic and on larger patients. There are may ways that staff supports these heavy limbs and at times it can be in a way that is not ergonomic at all.
The stand alone leg prep is adjusted completely independent from the OR Table. This can be extremely beneficial, especially when the table may be completely set up for the surgical procedure. The base can slide in under the OR Table if needed. The upper portion swivels 360 degrees to make it extremely easy to get the correct position. The stand adjusts in height with a thumb knob to help position it wherever you need it. Due to the flexibility, this stand can be set directly beside, off the end, or wherever else you need it in relation to the OR Table. As it is not attached directly to the table, it can be easily removed after the leg is prepped.
The stand alone leg prep has many great uses, for example, another great use for this leg prep is when surgery is performed on a stretcher or gurney instead of an OR Table. There is no rail on the stretcher to accommodate the standard leg prep but the stand alone leg prep is a great fit! Also, it can be used for arms during beach chair procedures or other orthopedic cases.
